SHERI BAY – FINE ARTIST
My oil paintings are a quiet conversation with the natural world—an invitation to pause and breathe in its stillness. Whether I’m painting a solitary elk, a mist-laced forest, or a fox mid-glance, my work is rooted in a deep reverence for wildlife and moody, soulful landscapes.
As a self-taught artist, I’ve learned to trust an intuitive process. I take my time, layering oil paint slowly, letting the image emerge as much as I shape it. There is no rush in nature, and I try to honor that same rhythm in my studio.

Living amidst the natural wonders of Central Washington has shaped both my life and my art. The ever-changing beauty right outside my door serves as the inspiration for my work.
Through my paintings, I hope to bring the wild into domestic spaces—not with noise, but with a quiet presence. A reminder of the peace, strength, and stillness that lives beyond the edges of our busy lives.

I’ve always had a creative spirit, but I didn’t pick up a paintbrush until 2018. One day, I simply decided I wanted to learn to paint. The idea of attending art school while working full-time felt impossible (and expensive), so I turned to the internet and discovered the world of online learning.
I started with YouTube tutorials and was immediately drawn in. My very first painting was a simple acrylic painting of lavender—but that was all it took. I was hooked. I explored watercolor next and loved watching paint and water dance across the page, creating effects I couldn’t have planned. But it wasn’t long before I moved to oils. I wanted to paint larger, more immersive pieces, and oil paint felt like the perfect fit. Its buttery texture, long drying time, and the ability to blend and build layers felt intuitive and expressive in a way I hadn’t experienced before.

Today, I mostly paint in oil, occasionally picking up watercolor for smaller pieces. My work is inspired by the quiet soul of nature—animals both wild and domestic, and moody, atmospheric landscapes.
Painting has become a way for me to connect deeply with the natural world and share that connection with others.
Thank you for visiting and sharing in my artistic journey. Let's discover the beauty that surrounds us, one canvas at a time.
